The Fire Of Love

She smiles and my world fades,
My heart skips, breathing stops
For an instant time ceases, abates.
The mind clears, thoughts unlock.

Her fire burns, sears the soul,
Melts my resistance, warms my spirit.
It’s a story that needs to be told
Some find it while others fear it.

Love I know, at least I thought,
It’s a feeling far beyond bliss,
But is it more than I sought?
Do I even deserve love like this?

Love asks nothing but demands all,
Freely given, offered with respect.
Only a smile pays the bill in full,
I’ve offered too little, I suspect.
